What is Jubilee Year?
On Christmas Eve, Pope Francis opened the Holy Door of Saint Peter’s Basilica and officially inaugurated the 2025 Jubilee of Hope. During his Christmas evening Mass, he reassured the faithful that the Christ Child of Bethlehem offers the world infinite hope and joy. Pope Francis has declared that the year 2025 will be a Holy Year of Jubilee for the Catholic Church – an event that takes place once every 25 years. The theme for the 2025 Jubilee is “Pilgrims of Hope,” inviting us to showcase the hope of our Christian faith to people worldwide. It comes at a time when the impact of war, poverty, climate change, and the lasting effects of the COVID pandemic cause much suffering.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church: A Jubilee Pilgrimage Destination
It’s truly a blessing that Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dorchester has been designated as a Jubilee Pilgrimage Site for the Holy Year 2025among the four chosen churches across Devon, Cornwall, and Dorset under the Diocese of Plymouth. The other honoured churches under the Diocese are the Cathedral in Plymouth, St. Cuthbert Mayne Church in Launceston, and the National Shrine of St. Boniface in Crediton. In this special Jubilee Year, everyone is invited to visit these four churches in Cornwall, Devon, and Dorset.
This recognition brings a special opportunity for spiritual enrichment and reflection for pilgrims visiting these sacred sites. Let’s join together in this blessed journey and celebrate the Jubilee Year with heartfelt devotion.
Our Diocese of Plymouth has created a Pilgrims of Hope passport, designed by Fr Jonathan Stewart for those pilgrims visiting sites and will also be creating ways for those unable to walk or travel, to visit these sacred spaces virtually. Please download the copy of your Pilgrim Passport:

The CAFOD group is holding the first of several guided Jubilee Reflections on Saturday May 3rd at 12 noon in the Church. Please Come and join us for this short time of peaceful reflection and prayer.
CAFOD QUIZ
The ever popular annual CAFOD Quiz will take place at the Parish Centre on Friday May 16th at 7 pm. Ploughman’s supper provided but please bring your own drinks and glasses.
Special JUBILEE MASS for all Married Couples
Date : Sunday May 11th 2025 at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Dorchester.
This Mass will be a beautiful occasion to celebrate the gift of marriage, receive a special blessing, and participate in the renewal of marriage vows. It is a time to give thanks for the journey of love and commitment, seeking God’s continued grace in your married life.
As Pope Francis reminds us:
“Marriage is a symbol of life, real life: it is not ‘fiction’! It is the Sacrament of the love of Christ and the Church,
a love which finds its proof and guarantee in the Cross.” (Pope Francis, General Audience, May 6 2015)

This Mass is an opportunity to give thanks for your dedication, service, and witness to the faith. It will be a time to reflect on God’s grace in your vocation and renew your commitment to His mission.
As Pope Francis beautifully reminds us: “A Church without religious sisters and brothers is unthinkable. The Church is in need of you, of your witness,
and of your courage to go to the peripheries.” (Pope Francis, Address to Religious, February 1 2020)
